The season’s best result so far and a good feeling after the race – things are progressing steadily for Sandro and Juliano Holzem in the ADAC GT Masters. The Nürburgring saw the twins delivering an error-free weekend, boosting confidence for the second half of the season.
“We’ve gathered a lot of positive experience from this weekend,” team manager Christian Land sums up after the guest appearance at the Nürburgring. “After the Oschersleben setback and the improvement in Zandvoort, we now know clearly where we stand. Both drivers demonstrated their capability and summarised what they’ve learned.”
It was above all the first endurance race, running for 80 minutes, where the brother duo excelled. Thanks to a flawless performance and a clever strategy, the drivers pushed forward 6 positions from 13th on the grid. “This proved we obviously have a better pace in the race than in the qualifying. It also tells what we will have to work on in future,” said Julian Holzem.
The haul from the second race might seem somewhat sobering at first glance, but in fact, it wasn’t. “We started from 12th on the grid and came in 12th,” Sandro Holzem stated. “That was the best we could do. We drove the fourth-fastest lap time, which underlines our potential, but didn’t have as much speed on the straight as cars from other brands. Overtaking was simply unthinkable.”
The first half of the ADAC GT Masters season can now be ticked off. The next action takes place in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, where the popular GT Series is scheduled for the end of August. Again, the new format is on the programme, including both an endurance and a sprint race.
