Land-Motorsport looks back on an eventful race weekend in the DTM at the Lausitzring. The team from Niederdreisbach celebrated their first successes together with driver Ricardo Feller but also had to overcome a number of challenges at the second round of the season.
“We are proud of the progress we made this weekend,” said team principal Christian Land. “Of course we wanted to collect a few more points, but we can see that we are on the right track. Our performance on Saturday in particular showed that the hard work over the past few weeks is paying off. That’s what we need to build on as we strive to achieve more in this championship.”
By qualifying in second on Saturday, Feller had given the team its first front-row start in its maiden DTM season – and the first two championship points to go with it. The Swiss driver continued in the same vein in the race, remaining within striking distance of the leading group before a technical issue cost the team any chance of a top finish.
Feller showed just as much fight on Sunday, making up no fewer than nine positions in the race, with a twelfth-place finish and four valuable championship points the reward for an impressive recovery drive.
“It was no easy weekend for us,” Feller said after Sunday’s race. “We have a very quick car, but we lack that little bit of good fortune to turn that pace into a good result. Nevertheless, I am still very proud of the whole crew. Our pit stops have improved markedly, and the guys did a great job to get the car back into shape for Sunday’s race.”
There’s not long to wait until the next DTM race weekend, as the championship visits Circuit Zandvoort for the third round of the season in two weeks’ times (6 to 8 June).
