The GTC Race season ended with two victories for the Land-Motorsport team. In the final race weekend at the Nürburgring, Swiss driver Florian Blatter and Audi Sport customer racing pilot Markus Winkelhock got behind the wheel of the Audi R8 LMS GT3. After a flawless weekend, the team led by team manager Christian Land rewarded themselves with a successful end to the season.
Especially the second race of the GT Sprint will be remembered, in which Markus Winkelhock converted his pole position into a commanding start-to-finish victory. Winkelhock’s teammate Florian Blatter continued to bring success. The Swiss achieved a strong fourth place overall in his sprint race, which also meant victory in the Am class. “I was able to gain a lot of experience over the weekend and I am happy about my win in the Am championship,” said a satisfied Blatter after the race.
The weekend began on Friday with two practice sessions in which Blatter and Winkelhock made important testing kilometres which laid the foundation for their successes. In the qualifying for the GT60 race, Florian Blatter was able to put his car in a strong sixth place overall. In the race, the duo got the best out of the car despite difficult conditions and were rewarded with a top 5 result.
If that was not success enough yet for Land-Motorsport at the Nürburgring, in the STT (Spezial Tourenwagen Trophy) Stefan Wieninger excelled in another Audi R8 LMS GT3. A pole position and two race wins were scored during the weekend. Unsurprisingly, Wieninger was happy: “I always like coming to the Nürburgring and I just feel right at home here. If results like this come your way, that’s of course all the better,” said the Land-Motorsport driver.
Christian Land also reflects positively on the season finale: “It was a positive weekend for us with no problems. We always made the right decisions in the right situations and are happy with how this weekend went,” said the team manager.
