The fourth round of the DTM season at the Norisring (3 to 5 July) proved a real challenge for Land-Motorsport. However, Bastian Buus and the team from western Germany showed plenty of fighting spirit on the streets of Nuremberg to secure two points-paying finishes.
“This weekend was anything but easy for us once again,” said Christian Land. “We had a number of challenges to overcome and ultimately just didn’t have the pace. We made some changes to the set-up and managed to improve the car, which is encouraging. It ran flawlessly throughout, but under the circumstances, these results were the maximum we could extract from our package.”
Despite starting both races from the back of the field, Buus fought his way into the points on both occasions. The young Dane crossed the line in 13th on Saturday before adding to his tally with an eighth-place finish on Sunday.
Perseverance and strategy proved key to success on the street circuit. “Sunday’s race was complicated by the arrival of rain, but in the end, it actually played into our hands,” added Land. “Two early pit stops, combined with a great drive from Bastian, helped us climb to eighth place. I think we can be happy with that.”
Buus was also able to take the positives from the weekend despite the challenges: “The circuit was completely new to me, but I found my feet straight away. The team also did a fantastic job. Obviously, we wanted better results, but that was the maximum we had in us. We were on a par with the other Porsche in the field and hope we can secure stronger results in the upcoming races.”
The next race weekend on the calendar for Land-Motorsport is the DTM at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben from 24 to 26 July.
