As the 2026 DTM season drew to a close, Bastian Buus put in a performance to remember. On Sunday, the young Dane secured pole position for the final race of the season before narrowly missing out on a podium finish, taking the chequered flag in fourth place.
“These are the results we have been working towards all season,” said team principal Christian Land, reflecting on the weekend at the Hockenheimring. “With pole position and fourth place, we ended the year on a high. I am extremely proud of Bastian and the entire team. They truly deserve it.”
The weekend was a fitting reflection of the season as a whole, featuring its fair share of highs and lows – but ultimately more of the former than the latter. On Sunday morning, Buus delivered a blistering lap of 1:36.923 in changeable conditions to top qualifying and secure pole position for the season finale. Starting from the front of the grid, the Porsche driver was determined to convert that advantage into a strong race result – and he did just that. After a faultless performance from both driver and team, the 23-year-old crossed the finish line in fourth place, missing out on his first podium of the season by just three tenths of a second.
The result brought a mixture of satisfaction and disappointment. “The disappointment was high immediately after the race because we had just missed out on the podium,” Buus admitted. “But, all in all, I am happy. Fourth place is our best result of the season, and I am pleased that we were able to finish the year with such a strong performance.”
Buus had already shown his affinity for the Hockenheimring on Saturday, feeling right at home behind the wheel of the #29 Porsche 911 GT3 R. He qualified tenth in the first qualifying session of the weekend and finished eleventh in the subsequent race. However, a rules infringement resulted in the car being disqualified, leaving the Dane to bounce back on Sunday with an outstanding performance.
Throughout the 2026 campaign, Land-Motorsport consistently demonstrated its competitiveness. Buus recorded seven top-10 finishes and two fastest laps, scoring points in eleven of the season’s 16 races. The team also continued to make progress in the pit lane, capping its development with a maiden victory in the Pit Stop Challenge at the Nürburgring.
