With sixth place at the FIA Motorsport Games in Valencia, Ivan Peklin and Konstantin Gutsul’s season ended with a proper highlight. At the end of a successful season in the GTC Race, the two Ukrainians had their hard work throughout the season pay off.
“We are proud of how Ivan and Konstantin have developed since the start of the year. When you see where they both were at the beginning and how they performed at the end of the season, they can both be very proud of themselves,” said team manager Christian Land after the last race weekend of the year together. “I have to give Konstantin a lot of praise in particular. In his first season behind the wheel of a GT3 car, he really learned very quickly and improved from weekend to weekend.”
After the first test days, the duo started at the GTC Race season opener in Oschersleben in mid-May and immediately took home the first trophies. The season continued with races at tracks such as the Nürburgring and the Hockenheimring, after which the two achieved their first joint victory of the season in Spa-Francorchamps.
“Of course, it wasn’t easy for us against the strong competition, but with the win in the GT60 powered by Pirelli in Spa-Francorchamps, we had a real highlight of the season,” recalls Ivan Peklin of their triumph in Belgium.
With that success behind them, the two Ukrainians travelled to the season finale at the Nürburgring to prepare themselves for the big finale at the FIA Motorsport Games at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo. “When we were given the opportunity to compete together for our home country at the FIA Motorsport Games, it was of course a great honour for us,” said Konstantin Gutsul.
At the “Olympics of Motorsports”, both impressively demonstrated what they had learned in their first season with Land-Motorsports. Two sixth places and a whole host of unique memories are the result of an eventful weekend on the Spanish Mediterranean coast.
“All in all, I’m very happy about the season we had together with the team. The car was always perfectly prepared, and we learned an incredible amount throughout the season. That’s why a big thank you goes to the whole team for this great season,” Ivan Peklin concludes.
