Land-Motorsport came away from the second race weekend of the ADAC GT Masters in Zandvoort with P11 and P12 finishes across the two races. The experience gathered by the driver pairing of Sandro and Juliano Holzem behind the wheel of their Audi R8 LMS GT3 proved to be of great value.
“Every lap behind the wheel of the car is important to the guys, and to us as well,” said team manager Christian Land. “In Zandvoort, our focus was on making sure our drivers got into their routine and had as much track time as possible. It was also important that the team and the drivers worked well together. We mustn’t forget that the programme only came together at the last minute, and we missed the ADAC GT Masters pre-season test.”
In Zandvoort, penalties handed down by race control made the hunt for points even more challenging. After a couple of errors in the free practice sessions, the twin brothers – who celebrated their 20th birthday on Sunday – had to start both races from the back of the field. However, the pair showed a great deal of perseverance to make the best out of a bad situation. Faultless performances on both Saturday and Sunday saw the Holzem brothers make up a number of positions in both races.
“We were competitive throughout the weekend, and the car felt strong from the moment we got behind the wheel,” Sandro Holzem said. “Track time is extremely valuable when it comes to getting used to the car and the way the team and the engineers work. Now we will be looking to improve weekend after weekend and making sure that we are maximising our opportunities.”
The Nürburgring is the venue for the next round of the season, where the ADAC GT Masters will form part of the ADAC Truck Grand Prix weekend from 12 to 14 July.
